Like many hardware manufacturers, Canon lets you register your devices after you purchase them. Whether you own a small home printer or a larger one for your office, the Canon website lets you complete this process at your convenience. Supplying your email address provides benefits such as new product information, coupons for printer accessories and software updates for your printer model. In addition to this, your registration helps Canon if you need to file an insurance claim for loss or theft of your printer.
1.
Launch a Web browser and navigate to the Canon Product Registration page (see Resources).
2.
Choose your category from the list. For example, 'Consumer and Home Office' contains a list of items for home use. If you use Canon office printers and a Canon production printer, choose that item instead.
3.
Select 'Printers and Multifunction' from the list. Click the series of your printer to expand the next menu. Click your model name.
4.
Type your information into the form fields. Canon asks for name, address, email address, serial number and date of purchase. A red asterisk appears next to any required field. Click 'Where is my serial number?' if you need help finding your serial number.
5.
Click the 'Submit' button to finish the registration process.
